Evaluating Security Tools Beyond Attack-Blocking Claims

A security percentage needs a test method and a defined threat set. Our earlier Cybershield claim had neither.

Correction, October 18, 2026: Our earlier article claimed that a protocol called Cybershield stopped 99.99% of attacks. It supplied no study, named research team, or evidence for the claimed cloud-provider deployments. We have withdrawn those claims.

A percentage alone gives a security team little to evaluate. Ask what was tested, which attacks were included, and how the system handled activity it had not seen before. A result from one test cannot describe every network.

Start with documented defenses

CISA's StopRansomware guide describes practical measures such as protecting backups and securing access. It also recommends a zero trust architecture to limit unauthorized access to data and services.

Use that guidance to review existing controls before assessing a new product. Ask a vendor for evidence that explains its test conditions and limitations, then compare those conditions with the systems you need to protect.
